WARNING! WARNING! -->POSSIBLE SPOILERS<-- WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ***************************************************************************** The story for this game is quite complicated when you get more in-depth, but on the surface it’s your general boy in love with a girl so he goes to extreme lengths for save her making new friends along the way yada yada yada... To go a little further into the story: In the beginning Alex is just an average kid, atleast no one knows enough to think otherwise. He has grown up idolizing the late DragonMaster Dyne, or so we think. Luna, Ramus and he decide one day that they are going to go get the dragon crystal from the white dragon, and they do so. Then they decide they will go to Meribia to sell it. They have a tough time getting there and pick up another friend along the way, as well as meet an odd character named Laike... Upon arriving in Meribia, of course the jewel is stolen, and they go to one of the four heroes Hell Mel for help. They then go down into the sewers of the city (which if you played Lunar 2 first) you should recognize. You will get the stone back and Mel commends your Valor. Now you will end up going through similar situations and end up meeting Mia, Nash and Jessica (Yes we kind of skipped over some unimportant stuff). When you arrive back to Vane after you have proved the “Dragonmaster” a fake, the false Lemia calls you traitors and stuff, then after a whole big ordeal Ghaleon acts all upset and of course he can’t help you fight the monsters they’ve got with them, typical sage. So once that’s done Ghaleon is going to go back to Burg with Alex and Mia to speak with the White Dragon, but upon arrival he does away with the Dragon and steals Luna. Now Alex must collect his friends and go on perilous journeys through what we will call “sub bosses” and each of the remaining three dragons to gain pieces and become the next dragonmaster. You will meet many friends along the way, including Fresca and Tempest, who play a major role. When Alex has finally become the Dragonmaster, Laike has him at the Dyne monument in Burg and reveals that he was actually Dyne, and why he gave up his powers etc... Now your with the inventor and its time to go to the wilderness to confront Ghaleon and get Luna back. Little problem, Nash destroys part of the balloon and you have to do all this stupid stuff to get the engine and crap, the little weasel had to screw things up. Now once your in the wilderness, you’ll go through the mines and eventually come and have to fight the Magic Masher which Nash is in. He comes back to your side and him and Mia are all lovey dovey again. Now you have to get back because Ghaleon is taking the Grindery to Vane to basically bust up the place. Mia takes all the power in Vane and hurls it at the Grindery which stops it, but Vane is thrown to the ground, no longer floating among the clouds. Now you and your friends (which you have to gather) and with some presents from Ramus go to the Grindery to end this once and for all. When you get there Fresca, Tempest and their tribe bail you out so you can get in, then they head through eventually fighting Royce and then Xenobia. Then Ghaleon the Magic Emperor, and I’ll leave it at that. If you chose to continue you can pick from any of the save files you have and start from there. IN-GAME OPTIONS Once your in the game there are a number of options you can change. You can change the type of sound playback, things about names being shown, disabling the dual shock in your controller, and as well as the order of items and equipment. We will first meet Alex at the Dyne monument on the outskirts of his town, and we learn from Nall that he is late for singing practice with Luna. Enter Ramus, who then talks Alex into going on a journey to the White Dragon Cave with him to find a Diamond. Alex agrees and can’t decide how to tell Luna, since she hates to see him in danger. So head down to the town and then across the bridge, in the forest you’ll meet up with Luna singing, then with a slip of his tongue Nall gives away what’s going on, and Luna ends up joining the group. Head back to the Alex’s house and talk to his parents and then open the chests, now head to the gate to the city which is on the west end. ============================================================================= White Dragon Cave ============================================================================= Once your out the gates of the city, head north through the snow hills and trees, then when your able, turn east and then south to follow the trail all the way down to the White Dragon Cave. Enter the cave and on we go. The cave really isn’t a difficult area as long as you heal when you get to low. Once you get to the area with the standing ice pieces your going to have to get the apes to break them so you can get the chests. You will get to Quarks cavern eventually, and speak with him, he will talk about how you remind him of Dyne, with the Green eyes and then tell you that you must go get the dragon ring to be worthy of receiving the Dragon Diamond. Head out and make your way to the ring, which is not difficult, come back to Quark and he’ll give you the diamond, then talk to you about seeing his brothers, the red, blue and black dragons. Now make your way back to Burg, where your parents are very excited, you have passed 1/4 of the Dragonmaster trials. ============================================================================= The Adventure Begins ============================================================================= When you get back from the cave, Ramus being a greedy little brat is going to want to talk to Alex man to man about selling the diamond. Luna says she will wait in the house, meanwhile Alex and Ramus decide they’re going to go to Meribia on their own to sell the diamond, since they don’t think Luna will let them go. Well, Alex and Ramus get about 20 steps into the woods and Ramus bolts back to Burg, Alex follows him and then you have to explain what happened to Luna. In the morning you decide you’ll all go to Meribia together. Alex’s parents give you 1000$ to spend in the store, so you can get items/weapons. ============================================================================= The Weird Woods ============================================================================= Make your way through the weird woods, most of the chests in here are herbs and antidotes, so you should be about to heal up ok. Eventually you will come to a clearing where a very large number of zombies is going to surround you, and from the looks of things your done for sure, and that would have been the case had a stranger not stepped in, and stranger going by the name of Laike. He asks if you need help and obviously you do, so he will fight the zombies with you, and him being level 99 makes things a little easier. Laike will stay the night with you but when you wake up In the morning he’s gone, don’t worry, you’ll be seeing A LOT more of Laike in the future. ============================================================================= The Town of Saith ============================================================================= Your campsite is right near the exit to the weird woods, so after you exited you should have made your way to Saith, a small port town. You can explore the city, and one of the women in the town will tell you that theres a VIP from the magic guild in town, interesting. Go down to the dockmaster and talk to him, then head into the port house and talk to the captain, who has lost his sea chart, which he cannot sail without, so your going to have to go gamble with Brett (the local casino cheater) to get it back. You’ll lose a couple times, just keep trying and eventually Ramus figures out he’s cheating and threatens to expose him, so Brett gives you a staff, since he gave the map to the Old Hag who lives north of the town, but he feels confident that she’ll trade you for it. So exit the city and make your way north to the Old Hags woods. ============================================================================= Old Hag’s Forest ============================================================================= Once you get to the woods there are some newer, more powerful monsters, but since your not all that new and powerful don’t fight everything. DON’T open any of the chests, as they will only call out two more monsters. After making your way through the forest (hopefully you gravitated to the top left part) you will come to the Old Hag’s traps, where naturally there is some guy trapped in one, you help him, and find out it’s the VIP from the Magic Guild, his name is Nash. You decide traveling in numbers is a good idea, and although he’s annoying he’s good to have along. Go to the Hag’s cottage and upstairs you can trade her the staff for the map. Now head back to Saith and talk to the captain, he’s glad you got the map back, but theres a problem, a monster is eating the ship! His men won’t do anything, so your going to have to! ############################################################################# BOSS: Saline Slimer ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 12 APPROXIMATE HP: 1000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 150 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The slimer is a pretty tough boss since your so early in the game, and your not that strong yet. The most annoying factor of this battle, and what makes it last so long, is that after every turn the monster gains back 88-91 HP, so unless you do more damage than that in one round of turns, you probably lost ground. Your going to want Alex to use Vigor to power himself up and then his sword dance. Luna should cast Cascade on Alex to make him even stronger, and then heal the other members of the group. Nash should use his Thunder Bomb attack while Ramus uses his normal attack and heals with items. When Alex runs out of MP just have him use his normal attack. Hang in there, this is your first real boss, and once you get used it, it’s not so bad. ============================================================================= Sailing to Meribia ============================================================================= Well once you’ve slayed the monster, the captain says that he will take you to Meribia free of charge, but Luna decides she is going to stay behind because she will only hold Alex back. When you start to sail away, Alex runs to the back of the ship and pleads with Luna to come, reluctantly she does so, and jumps onto the boat. Go around and talk to everyone, then go down stairs and talk, Luna will think its time to go to sleep. You will wake up in the middle of the night and see that she is not in bed, go up on deck and you’ll see her singing up in the lookout nest. The next morning you will arrive in Meribia. ============================================================================= The City of Meribia ============================================================================= Once you get to Meribia head over to the Black Rose street, where Nash said he was going, its on the most western side of town, down towards the southern corner. You can shop, but when your ready head all the way down the street to the fortune tellers cottage, enter and you’ll see Nash talking to Royce, the fortune teller. She talks to you a bit, and Nash gets all upset, then you go to meet Hell Mel, one of the original four heroes. Go talk to Mel in his mansion, and he will test you to see if your worthy of being the Dragonmaster. ############################################################################# BOSS: Mel ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 13 APPROXIMATE HP: --- EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Obviously your not strong enough to take on one of the four heroes, so just use sword dance every attack until Mel eventually knocks you out. He will say how you put up a good fight and stuff and you might just yet be the next Dragonmaster. Now you remember that Ramus went off to try to sell the Diamond, go find him in the big store with the tents attached to it, he will be bargaining, and the man will run off with the diamond! GO to see Mel and he says to try and deal with it on your own, so head down into the sewers of Meribia. ============================================================================= The Sewers of Meribia ============================================================================= Hopefully you got some items or already had some, cause you might need them while your down here. Your going to use the buttons to lower walkways so you can move around the tunnels. There are quite a few chests down here, it’s a good idea to find all of them, since the boss you have coming up is not all that difficult. Eventually you will stumble onto Dross, the man who stole your Diamond and will tell him to give it back, he doesn’t know how you found him, but he has a friend with him whose thinks over wise about returning the diamond... ############################################################################# BOSS: Water Dragon ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 14 APPROXIMATE HP: 1000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 250 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is an easier fight than the Saline Slimer, because your stronger, and the boss is about the same, and it doesn’t return health every turn like the slimer. Alex is going to need to use Vigor and sword dance, he will be the main attackers, as Ramus will only use his normal attack, and Luna is the healer of the party. Luna should use cascade on Alex, the difference for Ramus isn’t worth using the MP, then just have her heal as needed. Ramus as I said earlier will use his normal attack, not much of a damage factor, but he should draw some of the monsters attacks from Alex. The Dragon has an attack that might poison a character, this can be a pain if your already low on HP, since it takes about 10 every turn, have Luna or Ramus use items to cure this. Once the fight is over, Dross submits to you and he will give you back the Dragon Diamond, and as an added bonus, Ramus takes his shop, which will be a huge factor at the end of the game. Now go back to Royce’s shop and you’ll walk in on her and Nash talking about “She’s the one” you won’t know what this means until later. Ramus decides he is going to stay here and watch his shop and remodel it, so go see Mel, take care of any shopping you need to do and then your going to be off for Vane. You’ll see a cutshot of Vane circling the Goddess tower in the air and Nash will explain about it. ============================================================================= The Magic City of Vane ============================================================================= Now there is a slight problem, and its that you and Nall cannot get into Vane like Nash, since Lemia, has closed off admittance to all non-members due to rumors of the Magic Emperor. So your going to have to go and get an application to be members of the Guild from Phacia. Head to the shrine which is NW of the spring of transmission and enter the shrine. Head to the back and Nash will go and get Phacia. She will give you the application, and now you can go and enter Vane, but you have to go through the cave of trials. ============================================================================= The Cave of Trials ============================================================================= This is a pretty easy area, partly due to its weak enemies, and that the guy will heal you even though he isn’t supposed to. There are a lot of chests that contain money down in the caves, so take time to explore and find them all. Eventually you will come to see a large monster, and Luna will wonder what it is. You have now met the final test to get into the Guild. ############################################################################# BOSS: Truffle Troubler ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 15 APPROXIMATE HP: 1650 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is a fairly simple fight, theres only a couple things you need to do since its only going to be you and Luna. As usual Alex will be using vigor and sword dance, while Luna is going to use her healing spells as well as her normal attack when noone is in danger of fainting. If you get low on MP don’t be afraid to use items to heal, you’ll have chances to shop in Vane. The Troublers attacks are not all that terrible, it has one that attacks both characters, but Luna’s healing remedies that, and one that attacks only one characters, which is hopefully Alex. This shouldn’t last to long, the Truffler is not a tough boss. ============================================================================= Vane and the Magic Guild ============================================================================= Well once you get into Vane your probably gonna be beat up from the Troubler, so if you head to the back left corner you can heal at the Althena Statue. Once you’ve healed head to the different stores to stock back up on supplies or buy any new weapons you want. When your ready go find Nash in the Magic Guild, and he will set up a meeting with Ghaleon who is detained at the moment, so you have some time to explore. Luna says she would rather go rest, so Nash shows her to the waiting room while Alex and Nall go off. Luna is going to here music that she thinks is Alex playing his ocarina, but its actually Ghaleon and they talk for a minute. Then Alex will be back under your control and you can go upstairs and meet a girl who is crying in her room, this is Mia Ausa, daughter of Lemia, the leader of the guild. Now Nash will come in and bring you all down to the meeting where Lemia and Ghaleon will inform you that there is a man in Lann who is claiming he is the dragonmaster, and she would greatly appreciate it if you would go check it out. Naturally you accept and off you are to Nanza Pass, the gateway to Nanza and then Lann. ============================================================================= Nanza Pass ============================================================================= There are a ton of annoying and stronger monsters in the Nanza pass, and it’s easy to get turned the wrong way. This is a pretty good place to level up if you have enough items to make it through, and remember you’ll be fighting a boss soon, so don’t fight everyone, but don’t run from everything either. Don’t open up the chests as they just attract more problems. Eventually you will come to Nanza, where the guard is reluctant to let you in but does when you tell him that your on official guild business, and probably because he didn’t want to hear Nash whine about it anymore. ============================================================================= Nanza Outpost ============================================================================= When you get to Nanza you can heal, but the guard at the back gate says your not allowed to leave unless the Boss Kyle says you can. So now your going to have to go find him to get permission and this is going to take a few minutes. First go up to the top right corner of the fort and talk to the man there, then just follow the trail of dialogue people give you in the areas they say and eventually you will find Kyle tossed in a cell so he couldn’t hurt anyone while he was drunk, apparently he and his girlfriend had a fight. So the man whose watching him won’t let you talk to him and rile him up, but now if you go to the back guard again he will let you leave. Head NW to Lann and go into the Chiefs house. Your going to meet Jessica (Mel’s daughter) and she is going to sail to Lann with you, because she wants to find out about the Dragonmaster too. ============================================================================= Lann Island ============================================================================= The monsters on here aren’t that difficult and if your not up to par on the level up scale, you might be forced to fight some of them. DO NOT open any of the chests, as they will cause you to go into a “High” like state, and moving around is a pain in the ass. Eventually if you keep heading as North as you can go you’ll come along Zoc, the supposed Dragonmaster. He will of course feel the urge to fight you and calls his “Dragon” out, which is really just a giant frog, lucky enough for you, he gets to ride it during the battle! ############################################################################# BOSS: Dragonmaster Zoc ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 16 APPROXIMATE HP: 2500 EXPERIENCE PTS: 600 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Well now you have new addition to the party, but don’t think your strategy is going to be any different. Alex is going to use Vigor and sword dance, he will be one of the two main attackers of the party. Nash is going to use his thunder magic, and if necessary healing items, but this should not happen. What?! Luna not the healer?! This is crazy talk, but yes Jessica being a priestess of the goddess has better healing spells, so she is now the healer, have her attack when no one is injured bad. Luna is going to use cascade on Alex to boost his attack quite a bit, and her normal attack if no one is in need of a healing item. This fight is not all that difficult as long as you heal when you need to, don’t chance whether or not you need to, if there’s any possibility, heal. ============================================================================= Whoa... Calm Down Lemia! ============================================================================= Once you have defeated the would be Dragonmaster, head back using the dragonfly wings, and then sail back. Your going to meet Phacia there who says she heard about a possible Dragonmaster and came there to see if it was true. An odd bit of information, Phacia who is supposedly the high priestess to Althena, has never met Jessica who goes to school at the shrine, and Jessica has never even heard of or seen her. Anyway, head back to Vane, and see Lemia, who is taking you prisoner!? Yes, she takes Luna and orders you to be sent to the prisoner. Luckily Mai does not believe you to be “On a mission to destroy Althena” as her mother does. So she is going to let you out of the cell and you see a women with a strange device on her head that blocks her memories so she doesn’t know who she is, you decide to take her along. Head to the Star Tower, where Mia is sure that’s where Luna has been taken. ============================================================================= Star Tower ============================================================================= The monsters in here are not all that strong, and you can always go back out to the statue, so if you think you need to, you can level up here. When your ready to try to go all the way through, make sure you get all of the chests, theres a lot of money and good stuff you need to get. Eventually you will come upon a rom where you hear singing, you will go in and see Lemia, Royce, Ghaleon and Phacia making Luna sing for them. Alex and the posse rush in and put a stop to that, then the mystery women remember who she is, and the fraud Lemia who had you put into the cell is found out to be Xenobia. She and her sisters Phacia and Royce, are of the Vile Tribe! Anyway, Ghaleon says how outraged he is and upset that he didn’t see this sooner, but then when Xenobia sicks her monsters on your he casually sits the fight out, dirty son of a... ############################################################################# BOSS: UltraGoyles (4) ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 16 APPROXIMATE HP: --- EXPERIENCE PTS: 120 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Not a real difficult fight, just concentrate on one of them at a time and they shouldn’t last to long. Alex is going to take the brunt of the offensive by using Sword dance, and Luna is going to cast cascade on him the first round and then heal the rest of the time. Nash should use his thunder magics and Mia should use Ice Blizzard, which will damage all opponents. Once they are dead you will all head back down to the guild and Ghaleon is going to come to Meribia with you and then on to see the White Dragon Quark. Head to Meribia with Ghaleon. ============================================================================= The Betrayal ============================================================================= Well, once you get to Meribia go to Mel’s mansion and your going to stay the night there. Luna will have a dream about a baby being born; more light will be shed on this later in the game. Head to Saith, the port you were at when you gambled with Brett, seems like long time ago doesn’t it? Anyway, head to Burg with Ghaleon, and yes you get to control him when you go through the Weird Woods again, his spells are super strong, to bad the EXP points in there don’t do much for you now. Anyway, go to Burg, talk to whoever you want too, and then go to the White Dragon Cave and into Quarks lair. They will talk for a minute, then the shocker comes. Now if you have never played Lunar 2 (like me, I played 2 first) this is going to back a shocker, Ghaleon reveals himself as the Magic Emperor after he gets Quark to tell him if Luna is “the one.” So then Ghaleon takes Luna and leaves Nall and Alex for dead in the lair. Its good thing your friends with Laike, because he saves your sorry butt again, and used the wings t take you back to your house. When you wake up your parents say he is out at Dyne’s memorial, and you go and talk to him. Then use the wings to go to Meribia, where Jessica is being attacked, kill all of the monsters and then head to Mel’s mansion. Go to the training are and Mel is there and so is Xenobia, she’ll bail but try to hit Jessica on the way out, Mel jumps in the way and is turned to stone! The only way to break the spell is to kill Xenobia, which Jessica vows to do. Now use the wings to head to Vane, after stocking up on stuff if you don’t have anything to heal with, make sure you heal at the statue before you leave too. Once you arrive in Vane you will see Mia and Nash engaged in a fight with a huge monster, so you will go and help. ############################################################################# BOSS: Vile Crustacean ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 17 APPROXIMATE HP: 2600 EXPERIENCE PTS: 1200 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Believe it or not this is going to be a pretty tough fight. Nash is not going to use his thunder magic like usual, but in the his items, he should have the Fire cane (if not you can use his thunder but its not as effective). Use that on every turn for Nash. Alex is going to use vigor so he can power up his sword dance and then Mia should use a fire cane as well, elemental magic (water, wind, fire, earth) are weak against this monster. Jessica should just heal and use the defend option to stay away from the party, as the monster has an attack that will attack everyone in an area, when you all get clustered up. Once the fight is over, everyone vows to come with you, and your off to Nanza to see about Kyle after you get the information on the Red Dragon Cave from Lemia. ============================================================================= Finally, Alex has come back to Nanza *cheers* ============================================================================= Alright, so your going to have to go back to Nanza, but don’t leave Vane until your stocked up on items big time. When you arrive at the gate to Nanza you can get in and heal at the statue. Then your going to see Xenobia trying to get some singing girl to come with her, but everytime the demons try to grab the girl she throws them back. Then she takes her mask of and its Kyle. Fight the monsters and then Xenobia bails again, and Kyle joins the party, this will be a major addition to your attack abilities. Get any items you need back at Vane (Dragon Wings) and then head out the south gate of Nanza and make your way to Reza. When your there, go into the bar and talk to the bartender, who tells you that you need to go to Meryod, so now head to the Meryod woods. ============================================================================= Meryod ============================================================================= To get to this little dock town your going to have to travel through the Meryod woods, not to difficult, but play it safe when your in the battles. When you get to Meryod heal at the statue and then you’ll start to walk to the east and the bridge will collapse. Now your going to have to find everyone which is really easy since once you find a character, another is in sight, until you get to Kyle who is in the pub of all places. He has obtained a book, and now you need to get to Damon’s Spire. Your going to head back through the woods, and eventually you will come upon the Plaster Mel, which is kind of odd... Anyway its evil and it will turn the party to stone except Jessica, and it tries to get her to come and be with it in death (pretending to be Mel) but Kyle breaks through the stone and fights the monster. Not really a real Boss, its HP is 1130 and all you have to do is powerup and skilled attack, since your only fighting as Kyle. When the fight is over, Royce is revealed as the imposter and scurries off. Heal at Althenas spring before making your way to the Spire. ============================================================================= Damon’s Spire ============================================================================= When you get to Damon’s spire your going to have to answer a couple of questions, luckily you got that book back in Meryod. At the first door once you arrive their, you will have to answer a question. Then once you get to the second door you will have to choose to help the sick man, event though you really don’t want to. The next way you’ll have to go through is the staircase, where you should be able to find the spirit bandana. Next is the test of the White Cubs. And finally once you get to the last place, you will have to make a sculpture of something beautiful. Let them all have their turns, then Alex will make a statue of Luna, and they will be allowed to enter. Then you’ll get the thieves guide and need to head back to the thieves guild. After you’ve got the wings from the guild, you’ll come upon Royce trying to kidnap the barkeepers daughter lilly because she can sing. Get the blueprints and head to Lluk where you need to find the inventor (Shira). ============================================================================= Lluk Field ============================================================================= This is a great place to level up if you don’t think your high enough, and when your about to go to a dragon cave its never a bad idea to be a little ahead of the game. So your going to want to use the springs to get across to the top left part of the field once your done leveling up. (Which is easy because there is a statue right outside the field). Once you have obtained the fluffy bug, use the wings to go back to Vane and get any items you might need for the cave, then use them to come back and go see the inventor again. He will give you the balloon and off you go to the red dragon cave. ============================================================================= Red Dragon Cave ============================================================================= Make your way through the cave, and try not to use any items for healing, since once you get to the third room, the trapped red dragon will heal you. Once this happens, save and get ready to battle a boss. Shortly after this happens you will come upon Xenobia, and then of course its time for the boss fight of the cave. On a side note, make sure you got the flame sword, it will come in handy later. ############################################################################# BOSS: Bronze Dogs (2) ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 2500 (each) EXPERIENCE PTS: 4000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The key to this battle is going to be making sure that you concentrate all of your attacks on one dog at a time, because once you get rid of one of them it is much easier to just kill one off, rather than trying to alternate. Alex should use vigor and dance as always, Kyle will use his skilled attack and have Nash use his lightning attack. Mia is going to use ice attack and Jessica will heal like usual, whether it be with magic or items. The dogs attacks aren’t to bad, but since theres two of them, the fight will seem like its taking forever. Once they are slain, the red dragon will appear and give you bad news. It is time for him to rest, eternally. But his magic will live on through the one who bears his shield, which he gives to Alex. Now when you try to go back in the balloon, it will crash and you’ll land in Reza, where it is of course carried off. But lucky as usual, Laike is there. Use the wings to get any items in Vane, then head off to Lyton. ============================================================================= Lyton/Shrine ============================================================================= When you get to Lyton you will probably hear the terrible music. Anyway, head to the pub and talk to the elder there, he will ask you to fix the shrine and that will then fix the music. Becareful of the cracks or you will fall through another level and have to go back up again, and eventually you will find holes that the wind is blowing through and is making the music. Move them as far to the outside of each as they can go and it should fix the music. Use the wings to get back to Lyton and then the elder will tell you to make the Blue Dragon Shrine appear, two who are in love must sing. Kyle/Jessica and Nash/Mia both cannot get it to work, then Hiro tries on his own, and the scene will cut to Luna singing in her place of imprisonment. The three vile tribe sisters will try to quiet her down, but the work has been done and the shrine appears. ============================================================================= Blue Dragon Shrine ============================================================================= This is possibly the most annoying area in the game. You have to go from whirl pool to whirl pool and if you go to the wrong one a monster pops out. Eventually you will see the Blue Dragon and he will give you the shield, making Alex an almost complete Dragonmaster. Then Phacia will appear, and tell you how Ghaleon was always jealous of Dyne, and you can assume safely that she is now on your side. Get out of here and head to Tamur pass. ============================================================================= Tamur Pass ============================================================================= Well when I said the blue dragons shrine was the most annoying I lied. If your like me you will get lost in here countless times before finding your way through, just try to get as south as possible, and use the shape you see before you get to the pass (the way it curves when your traveling) so you can navigate it better. After some wandering you should come across Xenobia, and she will throw some monsters at you, kill them and she’ll do it again. She will get ready to do it again but then you are saved by a nameless couple on horseback, exit the pass and heal and shop around in Tamur. Laike is in the back of the town and you and he (Alex) are going to have to go see Myght the inventor about getting a balloon to go to the frontier and face Ghaleon. Go north with Laike and to Myghts tower, the puzzles are pretty easy (planet/star/sun/moon). Make sure you get the crystal sword while your there, and then when you come back to Tamur Nash will inform you that there is about to be a hanging. You will rush out and stop it and then the man who saved you confronts you and you must fight him. ############################################################################# BOSS: Tempest ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 300-350 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Just have Alex use vigor and then sword dance, this is a pretty easy fight. The attacks tempest will use are pretty weak, and theyre not going to force you to heal very often. Once you have defeated him, he will give you the dragon necklace. And of course after he’s gone, you need to catch back up with him, so off you go after him. ============================================================================= Lost Woods ============================================================================= Just go through the woods until you come to a clearing, and Kyle will say he thinks the exit is pretty close. wander a while then go back to the clearing and decide that it will be your campsite. Alex will have a dream about Luna and then the tribe will take you out of the woods the next day. Head south to Pao and then find Tempest in the second teepee with a guard. Talk about the illness sweeping through the village and then Fresca (his wife) gets sick as do all the girls in your party, and Tempest rushes off to the Black Dragon cave to find the evil songstress who is killing off the prairie tribe. Go to see the elder and then into the cave after him. ============================================================================= Black Dragon Cave ============================================================================= There are a lot of good chests in here, although once you’ve gotten the Dragon Bandana, the dream bow and the angel ring, DO NOT open anymore of the chests. Eventually you will come upon Tempest, who like an idiot rushed into the cave and never thought about it being full of damn monsters. Go through until you meet the dragon, and he will give you the armor and now Alex is a true Dragonmaster. You’ll come to Luna who is the evil songstress, under Ghaleons control of course and Tempest will give Alex one change to save her, then he must kill her to save his wife. (Uh, who the hell does Tempest think he is, you save his butt from the monsters in the cave then all of a sudden he’s giving the orders? *slap*) Anyway Luna is gonna slap you around a little with the dragons body and then she will remember Alex for a second, causing the armor to glow and turning him into the Dragonmaster (he was technically it when he got the armor, but now its el officiale). Now its time to rumble. ############################################################################# BOSS: Black Dragon ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 8000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 25000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The Black dragon has some pretty hard attacks and hopefully you didn’t waste all of your items getting through the cave. Alex will do his usual vigor on his first turn then sword dance. Kyle is going to use power up then his skilled attack. Nash is going to take on a part time job as your healer with items and use his thunder magic when everyone is ok. Tempest will use arrow flash and not to that much damage, but he helps a little. Once the dragon is gone, talk to Ghaleon who will take Luna and say something about the grindery. Go back to the tent and find some good news, the girls are all ok now, then Laike shows up and Tempest gives you the MASTER SWORD. (Say what? You might remember this being the big time talisman from Zelda: Ocarina of Time as well, but Link said Alex could borrow it for a while). Go to see Myght and while your waiting on him, see what the couples are saying to eachother. The next morning when your ready to go on the balloon Nash narcs out on you big time and trashes it, saying he’s been working for Ghaleon and Royce the whole time. Go to Reza to find the balloon that you crashed and get it, take it back to Myght and then use it to get to the frontier. Note: Laike’s quote as you fly off “Im sorry, Alex, sorry you must undo what I have done.” Myght talks about a resemblance between Laike and Alex and of course now if you were wondering, like I was, the odds are looking good Laike might be a particular dragonmaster everyone thinks died... Remember, dead does not always mean what we think... PLEASE INSERT DISC 2 (or don’t and stare at a blank screen) ============================================================================= Talon/Talon Mines ============================================================================= Go to Talon and then head into the mines there. Start making your way through the mines and you’ll eventually hear a scream, you’ll rush over there and save the tribe guy who is buried in the rocks. The guards show up and you fight them, then Phacia will have a little revelation, and reveal that she does not think as her sisters do. Come through until you reach the graveyard, there is a goddess statue, and you should meet up with the miner you saved too. Once you get through a little further, the lights will go out and Xenobia will take Jessica and Mia and you have to fight kyle to free, but no damage is done, so don’t waste the magic. You will put on a little arguing performance and then the girls get lose anyway. Now you get to fight the shadow spectre. ############################################################################# BOSS: Shadow Spectre ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 12000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 28000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Not a real tough fight, you should be pretty much used to the attacks you have to use by now, but here we go again: Alex is going to use his sword dance and Kyle will use his skilled attack, and you’re going to use Mia to power both of them up. Jessica will take her role as the healer once again, and when you think about it, you won’t miss Nash as much since he kind of didn’t do much damage anyway. The fight will last a moderate length, depending on how long you can sustain the magic attacks, which should be quite a while, but don’t waste to many items. ============================================================================= Talon Cont. ============================================================================= Now head to the tower and try to find the secret entrance to the dome. You will enter the village of Cadin. You will then see Phacia in the shrine and she will talk to you about how she believe in forgiveness not violence, and a little later in the game, she will show you just how much on your side she is. Now head to ruid where the password just happens to be “green earth” and then your in. ============================================================================= Ruid ============================================================================= Head through the first main hall, getting all of the chests, and don’t worry about fighting, your going to want the points anyway. Explore through the area until you come to the large double doors. Taben is in here, and he decides to try out his new “Magic Masher” on you. The only thing about this is, Nash is inside it! Now after a few little chats Nash is back on your side, but still stuck in there, so you have to fight it anyway. ############################################################################# BOSS: Magic Masher ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 5200 EXPERIENCE PTS: 30000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The hit points for the thing are pretty low compared to some of the others, so this should not take very long at all. Pull out all the stops, with Mia using power drive on Alex and Kyle, Mia can use her elemental magic although its not as effective as the swords. And Jess can use items if needed, or heal party members. Once you defeat the masher, Taben will run off and escape. Then you will see a scene of Taben and Magic Emperor. You will forgive Nash and then fight your way down , heal and then head back to the airship. When your back in Vane, Mia will try to focus all magic energy in Vane at the grindery to stop it, there is a whole cinema of it. Vane is going to fall despite the efforts. Use the wings to stock up on every item possible. Then head to the grindery. MAKE SURE everyone is healed, your gonna need it. There are 2 big fights right at the beginning, and then Tempest and Fresca and their tribe come and bail you out so you can get into the grindery. Note: Once you go in, you can’t come out. Head through until you see the white dragon, and eventually you will come to a garden. You will reach a huge hallway, and then Phacia shows up. Saddly, so do Royce and Xenobia. But Phacia as I mention earlier would prove she was on your side, and hold them off so you can go, but what will it cost her? Now you must fight the Magic Emperor, or is he? No actually it’s the false one, so don’t get your hopes up! ############################################################################# BOSS: False Emperor ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 11000 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Mia is going to use power drive and use her ice attacks. Alex with use vigor and sword dance. Jessica will as always be the healer and can use her normal attacks with it is not needed. Kyle will use power up and his skilled attack. And last, Nash will use thunder magic and items when they are needed. Make sure items are spread out for emergencies though. This is not that tough a fight, and when its over all the characters think they’ve killed Ghaleon, but they are sadly mistaken. Luna is going to trap you where you are and raise the goddess tower, Althena has been awoken and you pretty much get slapped around. The tower is falling and Nall tries to wake you up and takes you back to Meribia. ============================================================================= Back in Meribia ============================================================================= Alex has quite the interesting dream, just before Laike shows up. Your all going to go back to Burg, to Dyne’s memorial. Laike will tell the story of Althena and reveal that he is Dyne. You will take Althena’s sword, now you are the true Dragonmaster. Nall will turn into the White Dragon, and fly you to Althena’s Fortress. ============================================================================= Althena’s Fortress ============================================================================= This is simple enough to do, just travel down the hall ways and make sure to get all of the chests, your going to need them. Eventually you will come upon what you think is Luna, but it is actually Royce, and now you must fight her to get by. ############################################################################# Royce ############################################################################# Exp. 50000 Lvl. 47 (all) **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is pretty straight forward, and for gods sake by now you should know what you have to do. Alex is going to use vigor and sword dance, while Jessica heals and uses items on members of the party. Nash will also use items on party members and when they don’t need that he will use thunder magic. Kyle as always will use power up and skilled attack, while Mia uses power drive on Alex and Kyle and then ice attacks when that is done. This fight you should not be at all that hard, if you are not at level 47, you might encounter problems. ============================================================================= Cont. ============================================================================= After you have defeated Royce, DON”T USE ANY ITEMS TO HEAL, JUST MAGIC! There is a statue just ahead, and your really going to need your items for Ghaleon. Your going to have to do the puzzles, red, white, blue, black, and then the final one is red, black, white, blue. You will come to kind of a garden area, and there is a statue, if you are not atleast level 47 by now stay and level up, since you have the statue it should go pretty quick. Now you must face Xenobia. ############################################################################# Xenobia ############################################################################# Exp. 55000 HP. 11000 Lvl. 47/48 (all) **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is pretty straight forward, and for gods sake by now you should know what you have to do. Alex is going to use vigor and sword dance, while Jessica heals and uses items on members of the party. Nash will also use items on party members and when they don’t need that he will use thunder magic. Kyle as always will use power up and skilled attack, while Mia uses power drive on Alex and Kyle and then ice attacks when that is done. This fight you should not be at all that hard, if you are not at level 47 or 48, you might encounter problems as you would have in the Royce battle, this once is a little harder, but the victory means a little bit more emotionally. SAVE YOUR GAME ONCE XENOBIA IS DEAD!!! ############################################################################# Ghaleon (FINAL BOSS) ############################################################################# Before you go into this fight, make sure that everyone has items spread out, hopefully with enough for atleast a starlight for everyone, and other healing items, since its not like your going to need them again. The way Ghaleon attacks, makes this fight even harder, if you are not level 48, you’ve got your work cut out for you, this was the lowest level I could beat him on. Alex is going to use vigor, then sword dance, and blue dragon heal if it is needed (your gonna have to use MP items obviously). Nash will use items and thunder magic which is not that effective but still helps. Mia should use flame bomb and items, don’t even waste time with the power ups. Jessica is going to be the healer as usual, but she is super important, since she can revive dead characters and use saint litany, KEEP HER ALIVE! Kyle should use skilled attack after he has used power drive. This is a tough fight, once you have won, enjoy your endings! ============================================================================= Is he dead this time? ============================================================================= Once you have defeated Ghaleon he is disgraced and bla bla bla, and then he apparently dies. Could we possibly see him In Lunar 2... However, Luna is still the evil version of Althena, and Ghaleon is alive again! Jesus what is he a cat, anyway he says Althena is fully revived and thinks hes won, then he dies again, this time for good finally. Alex vows to go get Luna, you have to do it alone, so go up the stairs dodging the shots and go to her. You have to spread the powers back, but there is a possibility it will destroy the world, just as was the case with Dyne and Althena years before. Even knowing this risk, Alex forfeits his powers as dragonmaster and steps through just as Dyne did, he takes Luna’s hand and they embrace, there is a very bright light and the power goes outward. Nall takes our two couples away since they have to evacuate, and they are hoping Alex and Luna survived. They see the fortress explode and assume that they did not make it, but then a light appears and guess who! The earth will return to being green, but not the frontier. Alex and Luna come down in a ray of light and the girls are all happy and stuff. Everyone goes back to Meribia, Jessica and Kyle go to see Mel, Nash and Mia go to see Lemia on Black Rose Street and you go see Ramus. SAVE HERE! Talk to all the townspeople, then go to Mia/Nash and then Kyle/Jessica and you meet with Mel and hes not a statue anymore. Then an old friend comes back... Phacia apparently survived when she helped you before. Then you go to the dock to go back to Burg, and Laike is there, then after you’ve talked you head back to Burg and the light fades away. He is from the town of Burg, which is very close to the White Dragon Cave. He has known Luna since his family took her in as a child, and she basically his girlfriend, just kid of informally. He is pretty quiet and courageous, but can be vocal when he has to, especially when he and the party are trying to get Luna back from Ghaleon. Alex will eventually become the Dragonmaster, the last true on anyone (some people don’t count Ghaleon in Lunar 2). He grew up idolizing Dyne, and goes to his monument in Burg, I would guess everyday. Apparently his father knew the four heroes or something of that effect which he shares with you when you find out your leaving. In the end Alex brings 2 couples together, and finds true love, not all bad for a days work as the Dragonmaster. Now in comparison to Hiro (Lunar 2) he does kind of fall a little short. He could not understand why or how Dyne could give up his power (they were best friend) besides the fact that he was jealous. So he decides to try to take over the world and all that good stuff! However, in the sequel, is probably one of my favorite characters, yes he’s back again! Jeez does he ever die. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= M E L =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= One of the original four heroes, he is now the major of the town of Meribia. His daughter is Jessica, whom he loves very deeply and protects her from “callers.” He is turned to stone trying to fight off the monsters and Jessica vows to turn him back no matter what, at the end he gives Kyle and her his blessing. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= L E M I A =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Another of the four heroes and the head of the magic guild of Vane. She is Mia’s mom, and for a while she seems pretty evil, but then we find out that its just Xenobia not being very nice. In the end she is quite forgiving of Nash and sort of gives him and Mia her blessing, I wish they had elaborated more on that... =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= X E N O B I A =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Wow someone’s evil. I don’t know what her problem is, but she is bad to the bone. Basically Ghaleon’s second in command and seems to be the most powerful of the 3 sisters (although in the end I’m not sure if Phacia was). She is totally obsessed with Ghaleon and dresses like a dominatrix, hmmm... =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= M A G I C E M P E R O R =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= This is simply what Ghaleon likes to parade himself around as once he is in control of the goddess’s power. Its just him with a costume change, and don’t even ask me what’s up with the huge shoulder pad things. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= DM D Y N E / L A I K E =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Some will argue that greatest of the Dragonmasters, although Alex certainly does come to mind after. He gave up his power to stay with his love, which just happened to be the Goddess Althena. HE would later surface, still alive, but changed his name to Laike, and yes he still kicks arse with his sword, so watch out. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= T E M P E S T =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Well at first what was an annoyance turns out to be a big help. He is a tribesman, who you run into about to hang a traitor, way to go Nash... And then he later befriends you after you help save the women of his village. Also later in the game he and his tribe lead an attack against the monsters keeping you from entering the Grindery, a warrior and a very good guy. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= F R E S C A =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= This is Tempest’s wife, they didn’t really open up her background as much as Tempest’s because she never actually fights with you like he does (twice). She seems good enough, and also helps with the monsters out by the Grindery. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= R O Y C E =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= One of the 3 sisters helping Ghaleon, she poses as a mind-reader on the famous Black Rose Street in Vane. For a while people were getting very angry with her because it seemed like Lemia was not using good judgment only going to her for advice, but since it was really Xenobia, they couldn’t really blame Lemia. She kicks her butt kicked at the end though so don’t sweat it. =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= M Y G H T =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Myght: The inventor who makes your trip to the wilderness possible. He builds the balloon for you, and although he might smell a bit, without his help you would have been left high and dry. He is also the one with Laike when it is first implied that Laike was Dyne. “The green eyes...” =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= T A B E N =-----------------------------------------------------------------------------= Sort of the evil equivalent of Myght. He creates the Magic Masher and I believe designed the Grindery for ME Ghaleon. He tries to kill you so don’t feel to bad about his designs not succeeding in the end, although it never really does say what happened to him. **SPOILER** And just for all you Lunar 2 players, if you’ve played both games you should realize that Taben’s peak where Nall and the Dragon Kids stay is actually where the Grindery was stopped (since it’s the Grindery) and its right next to where it knocked Vane from the sky.) ================================================================================ 2.) Lunar 1/2 Comparisons ================================================================================ In this section I am just kind of comparing the parties and different characters from the 2 Lunar games. * Lunar 1 Group The party in Lunar 1 seemed to be a lot less developed than the sequel, partly in fact because they didn’t have the side-plots like the sequel did. (They had them but they were just little tiny things, not even bosses with them). So you can probably say they were underdeveloped to begin with. Now the party members have pretty good diversity, although I don’t think they’re as strong overall attacking as the party from Lunar 2 is either. The party from Lunar 1 is obviously led by Alex, but he’s not very local, so its almost kind of weird going around and no one really says anything. It is probably also fair to say that the makers knew the faults of this game when they did the sequel, (its even hinted in the interviews in the manual for Lunar 2) so you can’t really take the comparison to heart. Overall it was an interesting group, just a little more excitement would have been good at times with them though. * Lunar 2 Group The group from Lunar 2 is easily my favorite of the two, but a lot of people seem to disagree with that. The overall parties are put together very similarly, with a hero, a girl to save, a healer, a magician and that’s when they start to differ more. The freelance characters from the Lunar 2 party are WAY better, Leo would kick the snot out of Tempest in a fight. As I mentioned before the attack strength of the entire party probably doubles that of the previous cast simply because they are stronger and have better attacks. The individuals from this group were developed much better than in the previous game, and I think they had this in mind after they realized that about the first one. All of the characters who stay with you have a story to meet them, in a couple cases a boss along with that, then a real boss (i.e. Borgan, Lunn etc...). So you have much more of a reason to feel connected to the party. I don’t know I think I’m biased because I did enjoy this game more, but I definitely lean towards this party more. ================================================================================ 3.) Relationship Analysis ================================================================================ In this section were just going to go over the basic relationships between each of the characters from the game. Please remember these are how I perceived them, they are not set in stone. * ALEX / LUNA Alex and Luna are the main love story in a tale with 3 different ones going on at once. Alex’s family apparently took Luna in as a baby, and they have grown up together and each have kind of crushes on each other, but they never really say anything. but they each know the other cares. Now when Luna is taken Alex will do anything to get her back, and at the end they both throw down their power so they can stay together, and find true love. * ALEX / NASH Alex and Nash are kind of an odd pairing. Alex has a pretty quiet disposition, and Nash is pretty cocky and makes excuses for everything. At first Nall and Alex kind of just let him talk to himself, and as the story progresses Alex doesn’t dislike Nash, it just seems like they never really connect, but I guess you could say that about almost any of the characters besides Nall and Luna. * ALEX / RAMUS These two have been best friends since they were small children. It was Ramus’ idea to go get the jewel in the first place which started the entire thing. It was also his idea to go to Meribia to sell it which introduces to you quite a few of the characters in the story either there or on the way. Ramus is kind of a baby, but Alex doesn’t really jest him about it. * ALEX / KYLE Alex and Kyle relate a lot like Alex and Nash, you never really see them talk much or anything in the story unless its like where to go or something. Again though, they don’t dislike each other, they are just basically each kept in their own little love story and don’t interact much. However they do have in common that they are the 2 warriors of the group. * ALEX / MIA Well this is even less a relationship than Alex and Nash or Kyle. Mia is as withdrawn and quiet as Alex, so they basically don’t talk at all. I think there is one part at the very beginning before she’s even part of the party when they meet her in her room and they kind of have a conversation. Just to put in a little side note, the conversation in Lunar 2 happens so much more its almost startling, if you have played both you must have noticed the interaction increases greatly. * ALEX / TEMPEST Alex and Tempest don’t really have time to become “buddies” but they are on friendly terms and are probably a little more than just acquaintances. Alex does defeat him in a fight, they are both true warriors, and have an uncanny respect for each other in that sense, maybe only matched but that of Kyle. Alex does save Tempest’s village, and in return Tempest saves them in front of the grindery, so they are even. * ALEX / JESSICA This relationship kind of goes a little further than with Nash or Kyle, but not in like an intimate sense. Alex helps Jessica save her father, as well as helps her reconcile with kyle, which basically makes them very good friends. As for actually vocal interaction during the game, there is little directly between the two that is not in a group discussion. * ALEX / LAIKE Alex idolized Dyne his entire life and wanted to be the Dragonmaster, which he would eventually do. But when Luna, Alex and Nall are going through the woods and some mysterious stranger comes and slaughters a huge group of monsters effortlessly and asks nothing in return, Laike and Alex meet. Laike is kind of like Alex’s guardian angel, and since he went through a very similar ordeal with Althena himself, when he was Dyne, he knows what Alex is going through and is truly an guiding light. * ALEX / NALL Alex has had Nall since he was a baby. Nall is his best friend probably only equaled by Luna. Nall is actually the son of the White Dragon, and does make appearances in Lunar 2 as well. He is with Alex the entire time and eventually becomes the White Dragon when his father is killed then later in the game. However, one sad fact about his immortality is that he had to watch all the friends from this journey pass, but he still has memories as he tells Ruby in Lunar 2, and still gets to be apart of Lunar 2, so how is that for you. * JESSICA / MEL Jessica is Mel’s daughter, and they love each other, but they are kind of in that teenage daughter thing, where she wants to be rebellious and he wants her to be a priestess. However once she saves him with a little help from her friends, they kind of see eye to eye on a few more things. One of which being Kyle, which Mel gives his blessing to after Ghaleon is dead. * JESSICA / KYLE One of the many romances going on in the world of Lunar. They are always fighting with each other, and it’s a very loud relationship, mainly on Jessica’s part, but they do really love each other. Alex kind of helps them, come together by taking them on the journey with him. In the end they get together, although there are none of there descendants or relatives in Lunar 2. * KYLE / NASH Nothing really of note here except I don’t think Kyle ever really trusts Nash again after he turns on them. Even after he helps fight Ghaleon I think there is a little uneasiness even though they are good friends. * MIA / LEMIA Lemia is Mia’s mother, and there is kind of a relationship similar to Jessica and Mels. There is only one parent, and they don’t really see eye to eye until the ordeal is mainly over, then Mia gets with Nash who Lemia makes promise to always stay with and help Mia with the guild and blah blah blah. * MIA / NASH This story is very similar to Kyle and Jessica’s being they get split apart and then their feelings allow forgiveness. But it is also different in that Kyle and Jessica are already in love and just separated when we come upon them. When we get first glimpses of Nash and Mia, Nash loves Mia, and I think she is aware, but I am not sure if she loves him yet, or eventually falls in love with him during the story. Either way it is unique, and she is probably the only one who truly understands why he did what he did and truly forgave him. * NASH / ROYCE Royce is kind of like a lesser version of Ghaleon for him. At first she just seems like another high ranker in the guild, but it turns out she is of the vile tribe and works for Ghaleon. (she is one of the 3 sisters). Nash sort of reports to her and that’s how they find out Luna is Althena, so in a war Nash is kind of a **** ****. But once he breaks ties from Ghaleon he does so from her as well. * NASH / LEMIA When Nash turns on his friends in a delirious effort to save them (his own deluded thoughts anyway) Lemia is disgusted by his action (when she hears later) but realizes why he did it and tries to forgive him, as she half heartedly gives he and Mia her blessing. I don’t think she full trusts him, nor does anyone except probably Mia. * NASH / GHALEON There isn’t really a relationship here, Nash is his subordinate and assistant (his spy if you will) and Nash is extremely aware of Ghaleon’s power, and is scared stiff of him, which is why he sabotages the balloon, because he doesn’t want him to kill his friends. Ghaleon really doesn’t care about Nash either way, and whether he lived or not was of no consequence to him either. * DYNE / ALTHENA Almost an identical story as the one between Alex and Luna. Being that Luna actually is the goddess Althena just in a human form. And Alex is the Dragonmaster just as Dyne was. Dyne and Althena were in love, and each gave up their power (in her case immortality) to be with each other. This would become a shockwave for the future (1000 years to be exact) and would set into course the story in Lunar 2. It also has a great effect on Lunar 1 which is probably about 15-20 years after that happened. * DYNE / GHALEON Dyne and Ghaleon were best friend during the time when the four heroes were being heroes. However when Dyne and Althena fell in love, Ghaleon was pretty jealous, and then when Dyne gave up his power to be with her, Ghaleon could not comprehend how he could do such a thing. So jealousy of her affection, and the disbelief in his actions caused Ghaleon to become evil, although I think once it actually happened he started to plot. A confrontation between him and Laike would have been interesting. * XENOBIA / GHALEON This is almost considered the fourth love story of the game, but I think it is better classified as, she works for him, she’s in love with him, she is obsessed with him, and he really doesn’t care that much in that sense. She is extremely loyal to him, even to the death. I think this would have been very interesting had they developed this into a story kind of like Jessica and Kyle, or even better yet if they were married and she was the “Magic Empress.” * PHACIA / PARTY Phacia has an odd role in the story, being that she is the only evil character who reforms. I feel strange even calling her an evil character because even at the period in the game when she was still loyal to Ghaleon she was all nice to them and stuff. She will play a huge role as she buys you the time to get away from Royce and Xenobia, who you probably would have been killed by at the time. She even gets a little shout out in Lunar 2, as she has edited a book about the vile tribe and left her name. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Chapter V: BOSS STRATEGIES/SECRETS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ############################################################################# BOSS: Saline Slimer ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 12 APPROXIMATE HP: 1000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 150 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The slimer is a pretty tough boss since your so early in the game, and your not that strong yet. The most annoying factor of this battle, and what makes it last so long, is that after every turn the monster gains back 88-91 HP, so unless you do more damage than that in one round of turns, you probably lost ground. Your going to want Alex to use Vigor to power himself up and then his sword dance. Luna should cast Cascade on Alex to make him even stronger, and then heal the other members of the group. Nash should use his Thunder Bomb attack while Ramus uses his normal attack and heals with items. When Alex runs out of MP just have him use his normal attack. Hang in there, this is your first real boss, and once you get used it, it’s not so bad. ############################################################################# BOSS: Mel ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 13 APPROXIMATE HP: --- EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Obviously your not strong enough to take on one of the four heroes, so just use sword dance every attack until Mel eventually knocks you out. He will say how you put up a good fight and stuff and you might just yet be the next Dragonmaster. Now you remember that Ramus went off to try to sell the Diamond, go find him in the big store with the tents attached to it, he will be bargaining, and the man will run off with the diamond! GO to see Mel and he says to try and deal with it on your own, so head down into the sewers of Meribia. ############################################################################# BOSS: Water Dragon ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 14 APPROXIMATE HP: 1000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 250 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is an easier fight than the Saline Slimer, because your stronger, and the boss is about the same, and it doesn’t return health every turn like the slimer. Alex is going to need to use Vigor and sword dance, he will be the main attackers, as Ramus will only use his normal attack, and Luna is the healer of the party. Luna should use cascade on Alex, the difference for Ramus isn’t worth using the MP, then just have her heal as needed. Ramus as I said earlier will use his normal attack, not much of a damage factor, but he should draw some of the monsters attacks from Alex. The Dragon has an attack that might poison a character, this can be a pain if your already low on HP, since it takes about 10 every turn, have Luna or Ramus use items to cure this. ############################################################################# BOSS: Truffle Troubler ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 15 APPROXIMATE HP: 1650 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is a fairly simple fight, theres only a couple things you need to do since its only going to be you and Luna. As usual Alex will be using vigor and sword dance, while Luna is going to use her healing spells as well as her normal attack when noone is in danger of fainting. If you get low on MP don’t be afraid to use items to heal, you’ll have chances to shop in Vane. The Troublers attacks are not all that terrible, it has one that attacks both characters, but Luna’s healing remedies that, and one that attacks only one characters, which is hopefully Alex. This shouldn’t last to long, the Truffler is not a tough boss. ############################################################################# BOSS: Dragonmaster Zoc ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 16 APPROXIMATE HP: 2500 EXPERIENCE PTS: 600 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Well now you have new addition to the party, but don’t think your strategy is going to be any different. Alex is going to use Vigor and sword dance, he will be one of the two main attackers of the party. Nash is going to use his thunder magic, and if necessary healing items, but this should not happen. What?! Luna not the healer?! This is crazy talk, but yes Jessica being a priestess of the goddess has better healing spells, so she is now the healer, have her attack when no one is injured bad. Luna is going to use cascade on Alex to boost his attack quite a bit, and her normal attack if no one is in need of a healing item. This fight is not all that difficult as long as you heal when you need to, don’t chance whether or not you need to, if there’s any possibility, heal. ############################################################################# BOSS: UltraGoyles (4) ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 16 APPROXIMATE HP: --- EXPERIENCE PTS: 120 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Not a real difficult fight, just concentrate on one of them at a time and they shouldn’t last to long. Alex is going to take the brunt of the offensive by using Sword dance, and Luna is going to cast cascade on him the first round and then heal the rest of the time. Nash should use his thunder magics and Mia should use Ice Blizzard, which will damage all opponents. Once they are dead you will all head back down to the guild and Ghaleon is going to come to Meribia with you and then on to see the White Dragon Quark. Head to Meribia with Ghaleon. ############################################################################# BOSS: Vile Crustacean ############################################################################# RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 17 APPROXIMATE HP: 2600 EXPERIENCE PTS: 1200 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Believe it or not this is going to be a pretty tough fight. Nash is not going to use his thunder magic like usual, but in the his items, he should have the Fire cane (if not you can use his thunder but its not as effective). Use that on every turn for Nash. Alex is going to use vigor so he can power up his sword dance and then Mia should use a fire cane as well, elemental magic (water, wind, fire, earth) are weak against this monster. Jessica should just heal and use the defend option to stay away from the party, as the monster has an attack that will attack everyone in an area, when you all get clustered up. Once the fight is over, everyone vows to come with you, and your off to Nanza to see about Kyle after you get the information on the Red Dragon Cave from Lemia. ############################################################################# BOSS: Bronze Dogs (2) ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 2500 (each) EXPERIENCE PTS: 4000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The key to this battle is going to be making sure that you concentrate all of your attacks on one dog at a time, because once you get rid of one of them it is much easier to just kill one off, rather than trying to alternate. Alex should use vigor and dance as always, Kyle will use his skilled attack and have Nash use his lightning attack. Mia is going to use ice attack and Jessica will heal like usual, whether it be with magic or items. The dogs attacks aren’t to bad, but since theres two of them, the fight will seem like its taking forever. Once they are slain, the red dragon will appear and give you bad news. It is time for him to rest, eternally. But his magic will live on through the one who bears his shield, which he gives to Alex. Now when you try to go back in the balloon, it will crash and you’ll land in Reza, where it is of course carried off. But lucky as usual, Laike is there. Use the wings to get any items in Vane, then head off to Lyton. ############################################################################# BOSS: Tempest ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 300-350 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Just have Alex use vigor and then sword dance, this is a pretty easy fight. The attacks tempest will use are pretty weak, and theyre not going to force you to heal very often. Once you have defeated him, he will give you the dragon necklace. And of course after he’s gone, you need to catch back up with him, so off you go after him. ############################################################################# BOSS: Black Dragon ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 8000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 25000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The Black dragon has some pretty hard attacks and hopefully you didn’t waste all of your items getting through the cave. Alex will do his usual vigor on his first turn then sword dance. Kyle is going to use power up then his skilled attack. Nash is going to take on a part time job as your healer with items and use his thunder magic when everyone is ok. Tempest will use arrow flash and not to that much damage, but he helps a little. Once the dragon is gone, talk to Ghaleon who will take Luna and say something about the grindery. Go back to the tent and find some good news, the girls are all ok now, then Laike shows up and Tempest gives you the MASTER SWORD. (Say what? You might remember this being the big time talisman from Zelda: Ocarina of Time as well, but Link said Alex could borrow it for a while). Go to see Myght and while your waiting on him, see what the couples are saying to eachother. The next morning when your ready to go on the balloon Nash narcs out on you big time and trashes it, saying he’s been working for Ghaleon and Royce the whole time. Go to Reza to find the balloon that you crashed and get it, take it back to Myght and then use it to get to the frontier. Note: Laike’s quote as you fly off “Im sorry, Alex, sorry you must undo what I have done.” Myght talks about a resemblance between Laike and Alex and of course now if you were wondering, like I was, the odds are looking good Laike might be a particular dragonmaster everyone thinks died... Remember, dead does not always mean what we think... ############################################################################# BOSS: Shadow Spectre ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 12000 EXPERIENCE PTS: 28000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Not a real tough fight, you should be pretty much used to the attacks you have to use by now, but here we go again: Alex is going to use his sword dance and Kyle will use his skilled attack, and you’re going to use Mia to power both of them up. Jessica will take her role as the healer once again, and when you think about it, you won’t miss Nash as much since he kind of didn’t do much damage anyway. The fight will last a moderate length, depending on how long you can sustain the magic attacks, which should be quite a while, but don’t waste to many items. ############################################################################# BOSS: Magic Masher ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 5200 EXPERIENCE PTS: 30000 **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** The hit points for the thing are pretty low compared to some of the others, so this should not take very long at all. Pull out all the stops, with Mia using power drive on Alex and Kyle, Mia can use her elemental magic although its not as effective as the swords. And Jess can use items if needed, or heal party members. Once you defeat the masher, Taben will run off and escape. Then you will see a scene of Taben and Magic Emperor. You will forgive Nash and then fight your way down , heal and then head back to the airship. When your back in Vane, Mia will try to focus all magic energy in Vane at the grindery to stop it, there is a whole cinema of it. Vane is going to fall despite the efforts. Use the wings to stock up on every item possible. Then head to the grindery. MAKE SURE everyone is healed, your gonna need it. There are 2 big fights right at the beginning, and then Tempest and Fresca and their tribe come and bail you out so you can get into the grindery. Note: Once you go in, you can’t come out. Head through until you see the white dragon, and eventually you will come to a garden. You will reach a huge hallway, and then Phacia shows up. Saddly, so do Royce and Xenobia. But Phacia as I mention earlier would prove she was on your side, and hold them off so you can go, but what will it cost her? Now you must fight the Magic Emperor, or is he? No actually it’s the false one, so don’t get your hopes up! ############################################################################# BOSS: False Emperor ############################################################################# APPROXIMATE HP: 11000 EXPERIENCE PTS: --- **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** Mia is going to use power drive and use her ice attacks. Alex with use vigor and sword dance. Jessica will as always be the healer and can use her normal attacks with it is not needed. Kyle will use power up and his skilled attack. And last, Nash will use thunder magic and items when they are needed. Make sure items are spread out for emergencies though. This is not that tough a fight, and when its over all the characters think they’ve killed Ghaleon, but they are sadly mistaken. Luna is going to trap you where you are and raise the goddess tower, Althena has been awoken and you pretty much get slapped around. The tower is falling and Nall tries to wake you up and takes you back to Meribia. ############################################################################# Royce ############################################################################# Exp. 50000 Lvl. 47 (all) **************************** TIPS/STRATEGY **************************** This is pretty straight forward, and for gods sake by now you should know what you have to do. Alex is going to use vigor and sword dance, while Jessica heals and uses items on members of the party. Kyle as always will use power up and skilled attack, while Mia uses power drive on Alex and Kyle and then ice attacks when that is done. This fight you should not be at all that hard, if you are not at level 47 or 48, you might encounter problems as you would have in the Royce battle, this once is a little harder, but the victory means a little bit more emotionally. ############################################################################# Ghaleon (FINAL BOSS) ############################################################################# Before you go into this fight, make sure that everyone has items spread out, hopefully with enough for atleast a starlight for everyone, and other healing items, since its not like your going to need them again. The way Ghaleon attacks, makes this fight even harder, if you are not level 48, you’ve got your work cut out for you, this was the lowest level I could beat him on. Alex is going to use vigor, then sword dance, and blue dragon heal if it is needed (your gonna have to use MP items obviously). Nash will use items and thunder magic which is not that effective but still helps. Mia should use flame bomb and items, don’t even waste time with the power ups. Jessica is going to be the healer as usual, but she is super important, since she can revive dead characters and use saint litany, KEEP HER ALIVE! Kyle should use skilled attack after he has used power drive. It's been quite a revelation, but you never can tell when luck like yours, will run out." ------------------------ Ghaleon vs Quark ------------------------ 1:49:22 The Magic Emperor appears. Ghaleon: "Not Ghaleon, dear Quark. Magic Emperor Ghaleon!" Alex: "Magic Emperor!? Luna: "Ghaleon, no!" Ghaleon: "Oh, no! Ghaleon... yes! Someday people may mourn this day, but my glorious rule can only begin with your enslavement." He then casts a magic globe around Quark that shrinks to the size of a small ball that Ghaleon grasps.
